Sand Check
Handwoven in the Middle Atlas region of Morocco, this piece reinterprets the Beni Ourain tradition through a soft checkerboard pattern. Alternating squares of cream and warm sand are rendered in varying pile heights, the tonal contrast gentle enough to read as texture rather than bold pattern.
The checkerboard motif has deep roots in North African weaving, and this version keeps the palette deliberately muted. Each square carries the natural variation of hand-knotted wool, with no two cells identical in tone or density. A warm, tactile piece with a contemporary sensibility.
