Indigo Field
This vintage Beni M'Guild rug, known locally as a 'Gerno', originates from the Middle Atlas mountains of Morocco. Beni M'Guild weavers are recognised for their dense, richly textured compositions built around bold diamond motifs and layered geometric forms. The deep indigo and purple tones of this piece reflect a distinctive dyeing tradition unique to the region.
The intricate patterning across the surface reveals the complexity of Amazigh weaving traditions, where each motif carries symbolic meaning passed between generations. Natural variations in colour depth and texture speak to the handspun wool and organic dyes used in its creation, giving the rug a character that only deepens with time.
